Cycle4Sunday is a closed charitable bike tour that is coordinated by the University of Kentucky's Physical Therapy Class of 2011. The riders are a collection of 9 physical therapy students and close friends. However, every member of the class is involved in creating and running this event in order to help raise money for SOS.
The tour will begin July 24, 2009 in Lexington, Kentucky, and will travel 160 miles over 3 days that will take us throughout the surrounding Lexington area. At the end of the tour, a post tour party will be held which all sponsors will be invited to.
We are riding in order to raise support and awareness for SOS.
Even though this is a closed tour,YOU can be a part of C4S.
Here's how
The Problem
With rising health care costs and the increasing number of the uninsured, many people cannot afford the health care that they so desperately need. This is a national problem that is also affecting us here in the Lexington area as well.
The Solution
Surgery On Sunday(SOS) addresses this problem. SOS is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides outpatient surgical services for income-eligible individuals and families from the state of Kentucky who do not have health insurance and are not eligible for federal or state programs.
Surgery On Sunday is the FIRST program in the NATION to provide these kinds of services free of charge.
Since its creation in 2005, the demand for SOS has increased by nearly 300%. Unfortunately, the resources for this non-profit program have struggled to meet demand.
The Help
In order to ensure that SOS continues to serve Kentucky in such an amazing way, Cycle4Sunday (C4S) has been created.
C4S is a charitable bike tour for SOS coordinated by the University of Kentucky’s Physical Therapy Class of 2011. The tour will consist of UK Physical Therapy students and friends leaving July 24, 2009 for a 3 day, 160 mile journey that will lead them throughout the surrounding Lexington area.
Our mission is to help SOS in providing relief for Kentuckians that cannot afford needed surgeries. We will achieve this by raising awareness to this problem and raising money to donate to SOS. However, our goal cannot be met without your help.
We are riding in order to help change someone’s life...
